I have regular diabetes check ups which includes a physical check as well as having a blood test taken. This is the part I like least, not because I am squeamish but because I have 'jumping' veins and it can take a number of attempts to get a sample. In the past, I have been stabbed a few times and then told to come back another day. On the odd occasion I am lucky to have blood taken on the first attempt. Last Friday, I was seen by the trainee nurse and I explained that my veins did not always produce blood. She spent a few minutes massaging my veins until she had coaxed one to be able to take a sample. I was extremely pleased. She was a lovely young woman who took a little extra time to allay my fears and make a visit that I normally feel anxious for feel relaxed. Thank you.
