"Caring practice"

About: Northern General Hospital

On Saturday early evening 4 July 2020 paramedics attended my home following a 999 call from my daughter. I had blacked out whilst seated causing considerable concern to my wife and daughter. The 999 operator gave calm, reassuring instruction pending the paramedics arrival. On regaining consciousness I and my family were relieved by their becalming review of events and examination of me. Although I was unwell once again in the ambulance i was heartened knowing I was in their hands. On arriving in a busy A and E I was soon examined and transferred to bay 5 Firth 6 for overnight examination. During my one day stay there i spoke with the domestic staff ( cleaners and caterers) and all willingly and cheerfully chatted. The nurses were extremely helpful despite there being other more demanding patients. Last, but not least I want to thank the general medicine consultant and his colleague who gave me an insight into how, why and what happened to me. He gave me the awakening I needed to appreciate that actioning medical advice and non medical changes is necessary and achievable.

At a time when the NHS and its staff face such considerable demands I want to thank you all for your care and attention. All the best.
