"very poor service"

About: Gladstone Med Ctr

I sent in an e-consultation on Tues around 1.30 also emailed very distressing photos of mum in laws eye, containing a large puddle of blood filling most of her eye (91yrs old), she hadn't knocked it at all she woke up like that.

trying to get a consult with a GP just over the phone or just to actually look at the picture was a nightmare, ended up calling the surgery 6 times during the whole afternoon until 6pm, I asked, and asked for the GP to call my mobile number as I am down as her guardian as someone to discuss on her behalf as she is not very good on the phone, nobody called me back, but the GP actually called my mum in law ina 2 second consultation, asked her how she was, she said fine, he said ok and left it at that, never even consulted me at all, he just left it at that, her eye is in a right mess, I will never ask for a phone call again, I will ask for a home visit from the GP instead to a very frail 91 yr old lady, its an awful way to treat people, I know we have a problem with covid but it does not have to mean that everyone's health suffers, I work in a surgery and I showed our GP's her eye and they were shocked at the look of it and said there might be some sort of clot underlying somewhere that had caused it but her GP would not even look at it for her

Hi,

Thanks for your comments. I am sorry you were not happy with the service you received from our practice this time. We are proud to say the majority of our patients queries are dealt with on the same day.

Indeed you did ring about your mother in law on Tuesday afternoon requesting a GP consultation. She was given an appointment the same afternoon and was booked for a telephone consultation at 4.17pm the same day.

You may appreciate that as per patient confidentiality policy we do require a written consent from patients to disclose any information with a third party.

We don’t seem to have a written consent from your mother in law. Hence unfortunately, we are not able to discuss her condition with you.

If you would like to have access to the details of her records including discussing her care, we will need a written confirmation form your mother in law and ID from yourself. This consent would usually be for each occasion that you want to discuss her care.

If you would like to discuss our confidentiality policy, please contact our practice manager 0151 645 2306 for further details.

Kind Regards
