Clean, efficient busy ward 11. Like the fact staff are doing 12 hour shifts. Greater continuity of care, felt the staff really knew me & time wasn’t wasted on handovers.

Good general knowledge, but missed the expertise of those who worked within specialist areas ( in my case colorectal expertise)

Need to give greater guidance to patients on what is acceptable. The person next to me listened to their iPad for hours during the day without using headphones. They also switched it on again at 0230am, I assume because they thought no one could hear it!!! They weren’t confused just very thoughtless & was never challenged by staff.

Thank you for your positive comments regarding Ward 11, and recognition that the 12 hour shift provided continuity, as you felt staff got to know you. I appreciate that you missed the expertise of the colorectal team, but that this did not impact on the care you were provided. To enable us to safely care for patients during this pandemic, patient pathways were realigned. In support of this, additional education and training was provided for staff, and the Specialist Colorectal Nursing team extending their hours of work to ensure that any specialist colorectal advice was available for patients and staff.

I appreciate your feedback suggesting that we require to provide greater guidance to patients as to what is acceptable when in the ward environment relating to use of iPads. On discussion with the Senior Charge Nurse, she will highlight this to the team to be aware and take any supportive action to manage this.
