"They all have a heart of gold"

About: Tyrone and Fermanagh Hospital / Elm Ward

(as a service user),

To the managers of Elm Ward in the Western Trust (Omagh),

To mention a few would be hard because every single nurse, doctor and occupational therapist have been nothing short of amazing. They always made me feel as comfortable as possible by changing my bed and making my room like a cosy wee place to relax.

When I cried they comforted me like a mother would comfort her child. They made small jokes to make me laugh when I didn't feel it was possible. From the smiley face in the dining room to the simple "Hi, are you ok? " they will never understand how it lifted my mood.

The nurses always checked and simply made it out of kindness of the heart as opposed to their job. They never made their job look hard and I couldn't choose more suitable for the job. They have the softest voices and the most infectious laughs! They always have a smile on their face and a welcoming rub on your back to give me the encouragement to make the extra step into recovery - and I can say wholeheartedly that they are the reason my smile shines on.

They all have a heart of gold and a wonderful way of helping people. I will never forget the medical help I got but most importantly the tender, loving care. I won't ever forget the kindest, most caring staff in there. They have truly positively impacted my life and I want them to receive every thanks and happiness always.

Dear Elm Ward Service User,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of the Elm Ward, here in the Western Health and Social Care Trust. The staff really appreciate your positive comments. It is so encouraging to hear you had a supportive and therapeutic experience during your time as an inpatient. Indeed this is something the mental health professionals strive to achieve for every service user under their care.

Thank you.

Brian Toner
