I am seriously concerned that my daughter mental and physical health has deteriorated in the last 2 weeks due to her severe eczema. She was undergoing phototherapy at ARI which was going well and it was cut short due to Covid-19.
Her skin started to get really bad and her GP prescribed oral steroids for 5 weeks, as soon as the dose got down to about 2 per day her skin flared again. She called her GP again and was asked “what is it you would like me to do for you?”. We tried to find out From the Dermatology dept at ARI if and when the phototherapy would re-start and the receptionist could not tell us. They suggested we call the out-patient co-ordination but no one answered after trying numerous times.
I spent the day with my daughter in June and was alarmed at her mental state and also her condition, she was constantly shaking, her heart was racing and her skin was oozing. My husband and I decided to take her to A and E where she stayed for 3 days. Not once did the dermatologist see her or even speak to her!
The hospital prescribed more steroids and sent her home but these have not helped. They told her the dermatologist could not be contacted and could not guarantee they would be in touch! She has not slept properly for more than 2 weeks and despite calling her GP on Friday and asking for them to ensure someone from Dermatology phone us that day we are still waiting!
It is not an understatement to say I am desperate to get someone to help her but I don’t know where to turn.
