When l was delivered to the hospital by an ambulance from Gatwick Airport upon my return to the UK after my holidays in Rio Brazil, the receiving doctor made it clear he did not want me at the hospital. It was not very clear to me why. I thought he was there to help. I begged and begged him to help me but he refused. He said he was happy to pay for a taxi to take me somewhere else. It was only after l collapsed in his presence that l was admitted. I was in a coma for five days and when l came out of it l did not get any briefing on my condition from any doctor or nurse. I found out a bit more information when l was transferred to another hospital at my request. I was very uncomfortable and l felt like an uninvited guest at a private family meal. I overheard some staff members loudly talking negatively about me even though my initial collapse was due to diabetic low blood sugar. Thank God l survived but it left a lasting poor impression on me. If a friend or family informed me they intend to go to this hospital l would dissuade them as best as l can.
