"Rude receptionists "

About: Layton Medical Centre

My daughter is 39 weeks pregnant and has been having her midwife appointments at Layton medical centre as a temporary measure during the Covid 19 pandemic. I was told I could now attend the appointments with her so this morning we headed down there. I took a seat and my daughter waited behind a member of staff from the chemist (that sits next door) to finish her conversation with one of the receptionists. Once the conversation was over the receptionist asked my daughter in an inpatient manner if she had an appointment to which my daughter replied yes she was then asked “where’s your mask” to which my daughter replied “I wasn’t told I needed one“ whilst this was going on another receptionist asked what I was doing there and I told her that I was told I could come to her appointment and tried to tell her that it wasn’t a problem I would happily wait in the car and that I had face masks and would go and bring one back for my daughter to wear, the receptionist wasn’t interested in any response from me and stormed away causing my daughter to break down into tears as she had spent the week in and out of hospital with problems with the baby. Not a single receptionist apologised for making her cry or displayed any sympathy Whilst she stood in tears and they completely ignored her I’m absolutely livid and disgusted that these women are in this line of work! People who attend a doctors surgery are already anxious they don’t need to be made to feel worse because they hate their job!
