"So impressed with staff"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

I was really nervous about having a colposcopy following an abnormal smear test. I wasn’t concerned about the outcome, but knew the procedure itself would make me panic. I explained beforehand that I was likely to panic and get upset, but for them to continue as I worked through it. I had 3 professional women in the room and they were fantastic. The health professional actually doing the procedure listened to my wishes and continued even as I got upset, though still checked in with me reminding me I was in control. The other 2 ensured they kept talking to me, reassuring me but also asking unrelated questions to keep me distracted. I can’t thank them enough for listening to me but also showing compassion and reassurance. So impressed!
