"Lower limb amputation"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I have been under the care of Mr Moran for approx 20 years plus. I have had problems with pain in my left tibia for years. I opted for below knee amputation May 2014, which I had done at the bone infection unit in another hospital Trust. Still in pain after this, I had a through knee amputation Dec 2015 at QMC Nottingham. I then had a above knee Jan 2020 under the care again of Prof Moran. This Consultant is so caring and passionate about the work he performs. Its such a pleasure to be a patient of his. I'm still having problems with my stump, I have got an infection and Neauromas, which was picked up on a recent MRI.

So more surgery but I'm now under the care of Mr Taylor at the qmc because Prof Moran hasn't been at work for a while due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

Thank you for sharing such excellent feedback and for telling us about the fantastic care Professor Moran has given to you over the years. I am glad to hear you have found him to be a compassionate and dedicated surgeon, and I am sure you will receive the same level of care from his colleague Mr Taylor when you next come to us. I have shared your kind words with the orthopaedic surgery team. Wishing you all the best.

Simon Parsons

Divisional Director for Surgery
