Victoria Hospital Ward 33- ortho trauma
Admitted via A& E (excellent care and attention here also -huge thanks to Dr Kian) last weekend and spent 2 nights in the above ward. I’m also a nurse, being on the other side of the fence & being a patient is daunting and I felt apprehensive about what was wrong with me and also even just being in hospital.
Ward was immaculate, infection control stringent, and covid precautions in place. The staff all introduced themselves, Calum S/N Carol the HCA & student nurse Amy (plus the S/N that admitted me, I’ve forgotten your name and I’m sorry if I’ve got the other names wrong! )
I felt informed at all times, reassured and comforted when I was upset. Medical, ANP, ancillary & physio staff on the ward also brilliant at updating and making me feel that things weren’t entirely out of my control. The compassion and care afforded to myself and the other elderly patients in my bay was also excellent, particularly as no visiting at the present time. If I was a SCN for this ward I’d be rightly very very proud of the team I have In place. Well done ward 33, you do a fantastic job.
Special mention to my named nurse Calum, you did a brilliant job of reassuring me, understanding my fears and anticipating my needs. Couldn’t have asked for better care and you have a great career ahead of you (Look after your back! Your future self will thank you! )
"Well done ward 33"
