I have severe long-term mental health problems, of psychosis, with depression and anxiety, and fear of going outside. During the Covid 19 lockdown, my usual activities are cancelled, and the support from my CMHT is less than usual, with lots of staff changes, which I find very difficult. The mental health liason nurse, in my GP practice, has been ringing me almost every week, mostly for 30minutes. I've been having mental health support, in this way, for around 3 years, but it has been even more helpful recently, as in the past few weeks, I've been feeling more depressed and anxious, and isolated, and having horrible intrusive thoughts, and at times having suicidal thoughts. The mental health nurse, at the surgery, has helped me with this, and always has good ideas, or suggestions, about how I can help myself. Without this vital, regular support, from someone I trust, I fear that I may not have survived this recent crisis. Also, often after talking to the mental health nurse, I realise that I don't need to see a GP, and my need to see or have a GP phone appointment, has reduced dramatically, saving GP appointments, for others, in this difficult, Covid 19 crisis.
