Dear Team,
I have recently been discharged from Ward 2 West following colorectal surgery. From entry to the hospital, initial COVID testing, through the surgery procedures, high dependency unit, recovery ward it has been a journey floating on kindness, care, professionalism, anticipation of mood, encouragement and hopefully positive outcome. The members of the surgical team , led by Mr Finn to the nursing staff at all level, from the bowel after care nurses, the catering to the cleaning staff I encountered nothing but positive vibes, a can do attitude, a willingness to make this as comfortable an experience as possible.
The current climate has undoubtedly created an enormous upheaval in the way that you all function, the different hospital sites that you are operating from , the protections that you must take to keep the virus at bay and the wearing of masks in warm temperature controlled rooms is not comfortable. Your team has responded superbly to all the challenges, logistical and human with such spirited determination. What a brilliant team. I do appreciate all that has been undertaken for me. Thank you.
