"Poor care at boston"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

When I arrived at the hospital by ambulance I was sent to a&e im guessing there level of care was brilliant. I was in a lot of pain and the staff done everything they could to relive the pain.

Then I was sent to a ward where i received possibly the worst treatment I have ever been given .

I was dumped on a bed and ignored . Rolling in pain and screaming in agony! I just had nurses walk past me and not even look at me . My alarms going of next to my head for hours it was 4 hours of the most excruciating pain I have ever felt when finally I was offered 2 paracetamols ... it may have well have been smarties as I had zero effect on my pain .

For the first time in my life threw up because of pain!! It was insulting and disrespectful of the staff .

One lady who took me for a scan was lovely and tried to comfort me as tears were rolling down my face . I begged her for pain relief but she could do nothing.

When I got back to my bed I called my partner and begged her to get me but she insisted I was in the best place and would be seen too ..all I remember from the call was begging god that I would die .. i was in that much pain !!

I hope I never get sent there again!

Dear Maninpain

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback.

I am extremely disappointed that the level of care you received was not consistent, and clearly at times not up to the standard we'd expect of our teams here at Pilgrim hospital.

We look upon the receipt of negative feedback as an opportunity to learn and improve, and we very much would like to share your comments with the teams involved in your episode of care. To enable us to do this, would you be prepared to contact our PALS team at the hospital on (01205) 446243, or via e-mail to pals@ulh.nhs.uk, and let them have your name and date of birth? Once we have this information we can speak personally with the team managers, ensure they are aware of your comments, and look to address the issues you had which made your experience so poor.

I would ask you to please accept my apologies, and look forward to hearing from you shortly.

Regards

Sharon
