"My dad"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / General Medicine (Wards 3, 4, 5 &46)

(as a relative),

My dad was taken in to GRI  with suspected Covid 19 . On the 7th Apr. After it was  confirmed that he did have it he was moved to ward 38 .

We couldn’t visit for 10 days but the staff were great ! We phoned every day for an update They told him we were thinking of him every day ! He had dementia so was a very difficult time . When dad became poorly I was allowed to visit just for an hr each day. Sadly dad passed away on the 21st Apr.

Thankfully I was with him holding his hand. Thanks to all the staff for caring for him, for the kind words & cups of tea at a very difficult time, especially Dr Deeny! He phoned me with regular updates he was a great support to me through an awful time when other family members couldn’t be. Myself & my family will be forever grateful.

Dear Kpar3,

I was very sorry to read of your dad's recent passing in ward 38 of Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The loss of a loved one is always difficult for family/ relatives and our staff have found this particular issue very challenging given the visiting restrictions we have been working to in respect of CoVID 19.

I am pleased that despite these restrictions you felt that communication with our staff was good and you were able to be with your dad when he sadly passed away.

I would like to pass my condolences onto you and your family and I would like to thank you for taking the time to contact us. I will ensure that staff in ward 38 are made aware of your positive feedback.

Your sincerely,

John Stuart

Chief Nurse.
