Last year I unfortunately lost my daughter to stillbirth from pre eclampsia.The staff at the maternity unit were nothing short of amazing. They dealt with me and my partner sensitively, and we could tell that they really cared about our wellbeing, and had our best interests at heart. 

They went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible, even going as far to move us to another room on the ward, which was more quiet and and gave us more privacy to grieve.

Big thank you to all staff on the maternity unit- you not only saved my life, but made our stay with you a little bit easier during what was a very difficult time.

Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss on behalf of everybody at QE Gateshead. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about the compassion of the maternity team. It’s always very heartening when families take the time to let us know when we’ve provided such a good service, particularly during such a sensitive time. We will, of course, share this with the team on maternity who will really appreciate such kind words.
