"Hospital stay"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency Lincoln County Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

When I arrived I was seen very quickly. I was seen by a lovely nurse who was shocked at how high my temperature was. Really reassuring and helped me. Some blood was spilled on my joggers but they were so apologetic.

I was then put into a bed and from then on I feel like things just went downhill. When I was admitted nobody offered me any clothes to wear and they could see I had loads of blood on my joggers, I also don’t think the food was very nice neither and that’s what made me want to discharge myself because I was so hungry I just couldn’t stay another 24 hours. I was very upset at one point when I got told I had to stay an extra 24 hours and a lovely nurse came over and helped me calm down and said they would try sort some things out for me. I’m not sure what the staff member's name was but I was on MEAU B side. This nurse was amazing and so kind to me.

Dear thankyou1707

Thank you for taking the time to feedback your experience of time spent on MEAU. Having highlighted some good areas of care and support you received during that time, I will ensure these positive comments are fed back to my team. I am also sorry to hear that at times your care was below my level of expectation. There should have been no reason for you to ever have been hungry during your admission. We are able to order alternative meals if what is on the menu you don’t like, this should have been clearly explained to you and an alternative meal arranged.

I am also sorry to hear that you were not offered a change of clothes, we always have spare clothes on the ward or night wear if you had wished to change. I would like to take this opportunity to apologise that you had this experience within our care and I would like to give you assurance that this will be fed back to my team to ensure these concerns are raised.

Kind regards

Adele Bogg

Acting Ward Sister, Medical Emergency Assessment Unit
