I had to call the hospital today as there had been some confusion over a covid test appointment. After some delay and trying to find out what had happened I was given another appointment. I was given another appointment and turned up before time, the covid testing centre looked closed but we waited. After a while past the testing time we thought it best to call and find out what was happening.
We spent ages on the phone trying to get someone to listen to us but time dragged on. Two nurses finally appeared and explained that I had been added on the end and the person hadn't notified them that I had been added. The way the nurse Gina dealt with us was perfect, I could imagine that she had been given this new test to do having closed everything up, an added delay to the rest of her day. I saw none of that and only saw a person wanting to help, hoping we were not too stressed and explaining the situation. We drove away from the testing centre relieved but delighted that Gina had saved the day. In some ways I am also grateful to the person who booked me into that last slot, it would have been easy to offer me a slot on another day but equally they went out of their way to resolve a difficult problem. My thanks to both of those staff, my daily life has been in turmoil since the tumour diagnosis and so having both staff wanting to do their best made this day a little easier.
