My 80-year-old dad was recently admitted to Station 4 Urology at Ayr Hospital with a UTI. During his 11 day stay in the ward, he experienced the highest level of nursing care and has nothing but praise for every single staff member, from nurses, to porters, the ward clerks, domestic services and catering.
During what was an extremely worrying time for the family as we were unable to visit due to Coronavirus restrictions, we were able to phone the ward at any time without being made to feel we were being a nuisance to staff. They patiently answered all our questions - and we had a lot of them - and went above and beyond to ensure that we were kept informed of all treatments and decisions being made. Two staff members in particular were outstanding - Deputy Charge Nurse John who was so informative and knowledgeable about every aspect of dads condition and care and was approachable to speak to at any point, and also Clive, one of the hotel services staff who was described by dad as a "true gentleman".
We would like to thank all staff in Station 4 for making a difficult time for us that little bit easier, for being so professional and caring and for treating our dad with dignity and respect. Thank you.
