I went in to get induced at the start of the week, in ward 48. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Made me feel at ease and explained everything that was going on. I went down to the labour suite the next afternoon. Were I experienced outstanding care from start to finish. I had two midwives who took the time out to speak to me, before they broke my waters, as I had additional information on my records. This helped me feel relaxed and I felt safe in their care. They are an asset to your team of midwives. I was then taken up to ward 50 during the night, I request to br discharge early as I had long during to my home address were the staff accommodated my request.
My only complaint is while I was in ward 50, I had an encounter with an extremely rude and unpleasant staff member. Who I found treated me disrespectfully and knocked my confidence as a first time mum. My daughter had just been fed a short while before this staff member came along. Was telling me all the information e.g (cot deaths, breastfeeding) and wanted to see if the baby was feeding and latching on ok. My daughter wasn't hungry at the time and she squeezed her foot to get her to cry to prompt her to latch on, without warning me she was going to hurt/upset my child. Told me I was doing it all wrong, when two pervious midwife one from the labour suite & ward 50 said I was doing it right. Said I wasn't relaxing that's why my child wasn't latching on, was pushing down on my shoulders to get me to relax them. I wasn't tense because of my child not latching on, I was being made to feel worthless to my child, that I was unable to feed my daughter.
I went back to my bed upset when some other mums in the room said they had been treated the same way by this staff member. Thankfully with the great service of care before hand, your team of midwives were attentive, professional and caring. They made my overall experience within your labour ward lovely.
