The waiting time for the gender identity clinic is causing me great anxiety and I'm starting to think I'll never get seen. Within a month your waiting time has gone from 20 to 30months how can this possibly be. I spend days crying because of this unimaginable wait time as even once I get seen it'll be another excruciating wait before I get any treatment please please please I beg you improve this service I dont think I can cope any longer.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I am genuinely sorry to hear that waiting times are causing you great anxiety.

My team and I are aware that the waiting times have been causing distress and dissatisfaction to some of the people accessing our service.

Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 crisis we have been unable to see people in clinic because of the social distancing restrictions and this has inevitably increased the waiting time. We appreciate how difficult it may feel not knowing when you might be seen by the service and we understand that the increase in waiting time from approximately 20-30 months may feel particularly difficult. We are currently trialling a video-consultation platform and we are beginning to offer some first assessments now that the system has been successfully used. We are keeping the situation under close review as we are mindful to limit the impact as much as is possible and we are currently undertaking risk assessments to support plans to re-open in the near future.
