I had terrible left earache and reduced hearing. I visited the A&E department hoping to see an ENT specialist to sort out my problem after several visits to the GP without improvement. The lady at the reception and the nurse were very receptive and treated me well and followed the infection control protocols. My bad experience started when I saw the GP in the hospital, they were not following the infection control protocols. First the nurse put the mask on the chair, so I did not take it and used my own mask instead, then when the GP checked my infected ear with the otto-scope, he started with my infected ear then He put it on the desk and used it to check my other ear without cleaning it first. When I told him about it he said the instrument would not go deep into my healthy ear!!! I was disappointed with the visit, that despite taking the risk during the pandemic the ENT service was not available and I was let to believe that my condition was not urgent to be seen. I wonder why the ENT service are not available for urgent ENT cases and very worried about my ear and lose my hearing or the infection spreads further and the problem becomes worse.
