My 82 year old mother had a fall on the 8th April 2020 and was taken to A&E Heartlands with suspected break. She was transferred to the Royal Orthoaepedic and by the end of day 9th April had had an urgent half-hip operation. She was then transferred to West Heath Hospital needing more rehabilitation and was discharged on the 1st May.
The Doctors at West Heath took the time to review mom's very recent diagnosis of vascular parkinsonism and vascular dementia and her hip replacement. They reviewed all of her medications and assessed her mobility in order for her to recover well after her operation with the long term goals of getting back to her very independent living.
We couldn't visit mom at all but were able to speak to her via mobile and were able to ring up Nurses/Doctors if we needed to ask anything. The care that my mother received from the Doctors and Nurses in the NHS was exemplary so much so that she has progressed so well since discharge that I'm sure they would all be amazed.
Mom was extremely lucky to have been well looked after in all 3 of the Hospitals she had to visit - Heartlands, Royal Orthopaedic and West Heath. We cannot thank you all enough for getting her home to us, it is truly appreciated. She is doing great, thank you to you all!
