"Cancelled Appointments - Have I got cancer?"

About: Grantham & District Hospital / General surgery Lincoln County Hospital / Dermatology Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Oncology United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust

(as the patient),

Visited my GP 3rd April who said I needed to be seen within 14 days to rule out cancer. Referred me to

Nottingham Sarcoma Dept 15th April to rule out cancer. They cancelled my appointment & referred me to Lincoln Dermatologist 23rd April. They cancelled me. Then I got rescheduled for 7th May. They cancelled me again & rescheduled me for Grantham General Surgeon 26 May. I saw him. He didn’t know why I’d been sent to him. He said I needed to see a dermatologist for a biopsy. Next appointment is Grantham 2 Jun Blood test & CT scan. It’s been 8 weeks so far & I still haven’t seen anyone to tell me what’s wrong with me.

Hi

Huge apologies for the confusion below. Unfortunately without knowing your details we are unable to look in to this further for you. During COVID our 2ww service for Dermatology has continued so I would be keen to investigate this matter for you. It could be that you was referred as a routine and not on a 2ww pathway, so please if you can call in to PALS with your details then I can get this matter resolved for you. You can contact the team via PALS@ulh.nhs.uk or 01522 707071 and please quote CO770759

Regards

Thank you for your feedback. I’m very sorry to hear that this has happened. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it became necessary to stop many of our planned out-patient appointments and operations to enable Nottingham University Hospitals to treat COVID patients, keep all patients safe, and re-deploy staff to areas where the need was greatest. As a result of this, a number of patients with outpatient appointments were referred on to partner hospitals so they could still be seen in a timely manner. I am sorry to hear that there were further difficulties following this and that you had, at the time of writing, not been seen. I hope this is resolved for you soon and I am glad to see our colleagues at United Lincolnshire Hospitals have already been in touch to offer their assistance.

Kind regards
