"Rubbish and no help"

About: Burnley General Hospital

My partner has pathological demand avoidance on the autism spectrum so before we attended we called to ensure I (her partner & carer), and were told that would be fine. However when we arrived and they came for her and said I couldn't come in. After explaining to them her difficulties I still wasn't able to enter because the re were too many people in the room. I've attended my mums scans in the past and there was only ever 1 ultrasound technician so why the need for so many people? After she came out she was in floods of tears due to the stress of being alone with all the strangers, and there was in fact only 1 technician... I can't stress my disappointment and frustration enough. There was nothing done to accommodate her autism or communication difficulties at all. Not happy in the slightest with what happened.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on NHS Website. I am very sorry to hear that you have experienced a problem when attending the Radiology Department for an ultrasound scan with your partner at Burnley General Teaching Hospital.

We would encourage you to contact our East Lancashire Hospitals Trust Customer Relations team on 01254 733700 or complaints@elht.nhs.uk to provide more information so that we can investigate why this has happened. We are committed to improving future services and this would help us to make appropriate changes.

In the meantime we will share your feedback with the senior staff in the department.

Once again please accept our apologies for your experience and the upset it has caused.

Kind regards

Sarah Ridehalgh
