"Bad experience in triage"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

Had a very bad experience in Triage when going into hospital in Labour. I was not able to bring my partner in with me to be assessed due to COVID 19 so I was quite nervous and upset after being in labour all day and when I arrived into triage, I felt that the midwife I saw was rude and abrupt, they examined me whilst I was contracting, pulling the sheets off me, without warning with another person in the room. They talked among themselves whilst I was sobbing and in shock, not explaining to me what was going on.

When I was finally reunited with my partner after being sent to the birthing suite, I was in shock and very upset and so worried that the midwives on the birthing suite would be similar to the one who I’d just seen. Luckily, all three midwives that were with me through the rest of my labour were really great, but the experience in Triage really shook me and has stayed with me. I was vulnerable and did not have anyone with me to advocate for me, so I feel really let down that the people meant to look after me, put me through such an uncomfortable and shocking experience at such a scary time.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the unacceptable experience that you had with us whilst on the Triage unit.

Can I ask you to contact me and we can further discuss your experience and fully understand what happened and how we can prevent an repeat of what must have been a truly awful experience for you.
