Felt very good after the operation, but I feel that the menu choices I made contributed to a slightly longer stay than was anticipated by the consultant. Maybe I should have investigated what type of foods I should have eaten immediately after the surgery. By not being careful I feel that I contributed to several bouts of sickness about when I would usually have been discharged.
The situation was quickly resolved by a conversation with Ann-Marie, a member of the dietician team. I have been able to ask for potato mash and gravy, or a jacket potato, a simple solution. From then on I have been looking forward to the meals which have to be low fibre for the first week or so.
The standard menus are very tempting, but we’re not appropriate for my condition.
The nursing and support staff have been absolutely wonderful and are continuing to make my stay with you quite a pleasure, even though it will be nice to go home. What a marvellous caring team you have. So thank you all for taking the time to adjust my diet and enable my recovery
