"Not expecting this"

About: Watford General Hospital

The majority of staff is polite and follow the protocol but I had a very unpleasant experience in this department after a scan (March, right in a covid-19 pandemic). I had to have some blood taken for analysis and:

1. The staff tried to take blood from me without using gloves and wearing rings.

2. The chair where the bloods were being taken from multiple pregnant women was not disinfected after each use.

As a nurse this really upsets me. I refused to have bloods taken from the staff unless she used gloves and she got crossed with me even when I explained why.

After that episode, I had another scan (May) and while walking in a corridor I saw 7 or 8 members of staff very close and not a single one using mask and another lady and I were struggling to walk trough (bare in mind that this was in a place with pregnant women which are a high risk group).

I hope with this review you give some training to your staff.
