I had my baby on the 26th of February and can't thank everyone enough for their care during my pregnancy, labour, delivery and postnatal period.
I had great care from the start from Gayle Chapple my community midwife. The sonographer at QMH who did my 12 and 20 week scan and the ladies at the Vic who did my other growth scans were all great. I had anxiety during my pregnancy and they were reassuring and friendly during that time, always taking the time to answer all my questions and put my mind at ease.
I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes which is why I had extra scans and the team at the Vic were great, from the dieticians to the diabetic doctor and nurses to my obstetrician Dr baskhar, the sonographers and the midwives I met. I also had hyperemesis and again was treated quickly so I didn't become too unwell with it.
I was induced at 40 weeks and had complications during labour and after birth but everyone was great. My midwife Michelle and student Saskia were calm and great overnight, nothing was too much trouble. The sister overnight on the 25th/26th and the one on day shift on the 26th were amazing too. I couldn't have done it without those ladies and things would have been so much worse. All the doctors, from the baby doctor to the on call obstetricians were fantastic too. I'd like to give a special mention to Gail on the observation ward-thanks for helping me get washed, changed, and fed and with feeding after a tough time giving birth. And thanks to the postnal ward for the care when I was transferred from observation including Danielle, the student midwife and the nursery nurses. X
