In 61 years I have never visited A&E for myself and today I was advised by my doctor via telephone to attend A&E to check my swollen eye.
I was preliminary checked on the way in re Covid risks and this was very thorough but they made it feel very natural.
I was seen by a lovely doctor and she took details of my condition and examined me and said she couldn't see any major problems and then within 10 minutes she asked me to see another doctor for a second opinion and then they decided to take blood test from me.
Finally my blood test revealed my infection was localised which she originally thought, so I was in no danger.
I feel this doctor went beyond her commitment to satisfy my safety especially in this current time.
I told her I was sorry for wasting her time and she assured me my doctor was right to send me there to get it checked out.
At no time did she make me feel unimportant infact quite the opposite and she even apologised for the length of time I was there and I was there less than 3 hours in which time 2 doctors and nurse had attended to me and a blood test was taken to pathology and results returned so I think that was incredible.
Thank you so much for your care and your unending commitment and compassion.
Please stay safe
