"My son"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Accident & Emergency Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Paediatric surgery ( Wards 3A & 3B)

(as a parent/guardian),

My 5 week old twin son was admitted to hospital through AnE for a hernia and had surgery 36 hours later. I was not only very anxious about him but also about leaving his twin sister at home with her dad. The staff were all brilliant, looking after both of us so well and finding ways to get us safely home as quick as possible. Nothing was too much hassle and we were made to feel like we were the most important patients to them. I can’t thank them all enough.

In particular, on the night he was admitted I hadn’t eaten or drank anything since lunchtime and was breastfeeding. I mentioned this to Liz one of the Auxiliary’s who instantly arrived with the biggest plate of toast, biscuits, juice and tea... offer to give me two teas at once!  She couldn’t have been more helpful, genuinely cared and made a stressful time that little bit easier. It’s the little things that make a huge difference at the time.

Hi Mhar

Many thanks for taking the time to feedback. Firstly I hope your wee one is doing well and making a good recovery.

Its both an amazing and overwhelming time having baby twins (from experience) and then on top of that having an emergency admission to hospital and surgery must have been so stressful.

I am glad the staff were able to help you feel better and especially Liz getting the extra toast and nourishments. I completely agree those things are hugely important and that feeling of being cared for and well looked after is how we want everyone to feel, so I'm so glad you had that experience.

I will pass on your feedback to the team, and Liz who will be delighted.

Many thanks

Jen
