My 5 week old twin son was admitted to hospital through AnE for a hernia and had surgery 36 hours later. I was not only very anxious about him but also about leaving his twin sister at home with her dad. The staff were all brilliant, looking after both of us so well and finding ways to get us safely home as quick as possible. Nothing was too much hassle and we were made to feel like we were the most important patients to them. I can’t thank them all enough.
In particular, on the night he was admitted I hadn’t eaten or drank anything since lunchtime and was breastfeeding. I mentioned this to Liz one of the Auxiliary’s who instantly arrived with the biggest plate of toast, biscuits, juice and tea... offer to give me two teas at once! She couldn’t have been more helpful, genuinely cared and made a stressful time that little bit easier. It’s the little things that make a huge difference at the time.
