"The Extra Mile!"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

My brother in law was admitted as an emergency after suffering a major stroke at the weekend. From the moment my sister contacted the ambulance service, the care and consideration shown to all the family was exemplary, with the ambulance crew and staff at Cramlington taking every opportunity to do all that they could to help and support in a very difficult situation, made even more challenging because of the restrictions in place because of Covid-19. On behalf of myself and my family I'd like to thank all involved for the care offered! My brother-in-law died early Monday morning - our experience on Sunday night and subsequently is a credit to the professionalism of all the staff - they were so very caring - thank you! You went beyond the call of duty and are a credit to your professions and the NHS.

Dear Malcolm,

I am truly sorry to hear the news about your brother in law. It is so hard to deal with the sudden loss of a loved one anyway, under normal circumstances, but I know that Covid- 19 is making things even more difficult and complicated for families. I do hope that you are still finding ways to connect with one another, and share memories of better times, together?

It was really moving to read your account of the care and compassion shown by our stroke team. I’m not at all surprised, but I am proud to realise the impact that this had had on you ? I hope that knowing that brother in law was in the right place to receive the best care is a source of comfort to you now ?

I will make sure the team have the opportunity to read your kind tribute to them - I know they will be holding you and your family in their thoughts.

Please let us know if there’s anything we can do.

Take good care,

Annie
