Each week we rightly publicly express our gratitude to NHS front-line staff risking their own safety to care for sufferers of Covid-19 and protect the wider community. However, as someone living with cancer and dependent on the North Middlesex University Hospital for the vital immunotherapy treatment to help control its effect on my health, I wish to express my personal heartfelt thanks and gratitude to its staff. For many cancer patients, their hospitals’ have suspended treatment. Not so the North Mid. There are now two mobile pods at the front of the site each with four bays for delivering chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatment. Blood tests are now carried out on the extreme fringe of the site, away from dangers of contamination to cancer patients. All organised to ensure I and others’ can still receive life-saving treatment, including a Covid swab test to ensure we are not contaminated nor that we inadvertently contaminate other patients when receiving treatment. This means these tests are offered at the sacrifice of staff. Compassion, care, self-sacrifice, duty – all ancient elements of the commitment made across time by countless individuals caring for their communities. Not words, actions. Heartfelt thanks to you all for this debt I cannot ever repay.
"Compliments"
