"We can feel at ease knowing she was well looked after"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / General Medicine (Wards 5 & 8)

(as a relative),

Our mum/wife was in Ward 8 receiving palliative care during the later stage of lung cancer. This was a difficult time that was eased by the attentive and considerate nurses of Ward 8. Staff made sure our mum/wife was comfortable and maintained her dignity. During this health crisis, they showed compassion and consideration by allowing us to be with her during her last hours of her life. They also went out of their way to check on our wellbeing and offer emotional support. We know she would have been very grateful for the care she and her family received and we can feel at ease knowing she was well looked after.

We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

Dear tcf20,

Healthcare staff help and support people throughout life and death. Some would say that the care and compassion provided during the final days and hours are the most important and I'm glad your mum/wife was afforded a dignified death.

It's good that you were able to be with her during her final hours to say goodbye, that will have been important for you all.

I'd like to offer my condolences on behalf of the staff, I'm sure their thoughts will be with you at this sad time; thank you for getting in touch.

I'll make sure your heartfelt thanks are passed onto the team.

Kind regards

Rick
