I visited Royal Cornwall Hospital Urgent Care with my 78 year old mother. I am not making a complaint but would like you to consider that lay people do not necessarily know the current process with Triage.
I went into Triage with my mother to explain what had been happening and then was told to leave the room, of which I did. I did believe that my mother would come back out to me but she never did and remains in hospital. As a family we are very grateful for the care she is receiving but I would have welcomed being told that I may not see my mother again that evening (or indeed until she would be fit for discharge). I sat waiting for 3 hours in the waiting room, to be telephoned by an emergency doctor/consultant to say they would be admitting my mother and seem surprised that I was still in the waiting room. I am sure my mother would be confused (as I was) as I never said goodbye, gave her her handbag which had her glasses etc in. I would recommend you explain to relatives briefly what the current process is to avoid any further confusion or distress with patients and relatives. Thank you.
