About: University Hospital Wishaw / General Medicine (Wards 5 & 8) University Hospital Wishaw / Respiratory Medicine (Ward 7)

(as a relative),

My grandfather sadly passed in ward 8. He unfortunately had covid19. However I would just like to praise the staff from the respiratory assessment unit, to ward 13, to ward 8 and to Eleanor. Every member of every team were so understanding and caring. Even though they knew my papa had covid19 they put themselves at risk everyday and gave him exceptional care. I will never be able to thank the nurses and doctors that cared for him in his final days enough.

They updated my family daily (who unfortunately could not visit) they looked after myself when I was with him.

There has been a lot of scary stories in the news about end of life care during these times, but I cannot fault a single thing. Even during these difficult times, I know my papa was well looked after and was comfortable and had amazing nurses care for him.

Dear Thank you for everything,

Please accept my condolences on the death of your grandfather. I'm glad you were able to spend some time with him; these are challenging times for families who are unable to be with their loved ones and also for staff, as they would normally be welcoming families into their wards around the clock.

Good communication is important, but especially so at the moment, so I'm really pleased that was the case for your family. I hope that your recognition of the professionalism and dedication of the staff, who provide selfless care with compassion for those in their charge, will provide some comfort for those who were unable to get into the hospital.

It will be my pleasure to pass on your thanks to Eleanor and all the staff in the areas you have mentioned.

Our thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time.
