"End of life care"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / General medicine

(as a relative),

I would like to say that whilst my mother in law became seriously ill and was in AMU 1 all the staff have been so kind and helpful but I would like to send a special thanks to nurse Emma and doctor Jenny who went above and beyond to help us with the fact that she may not be coming home. They were professional warm caring and very very kind and I will never forget that they helped our mother retain some dignity at the end of her life.

A great big thanks to the AMU staff and to all the NHS in these troubling times, we love you guys you are all amazing.

Dear SPD65,

First of all, please accept my apologies for the delay in replying to you, as you can imagine this is a very challenging time for us all at the moment. Thank you so much for your wonderful comments about the Acute Medical Unit at Royal Cornwall Hospital. I am glad that you had a positive experience, given the circumstances. Please accept my condolences for your loss. Loss is always a very difficult time for families and I am happy to hear that our hospital made this as easy for you and your family as possible.

I will pass on your lovely comments to the people who were mentioned and I know they will be very grateful of these, especially during the current pandemic.

Kindest regards

Laura Fletcher

Dear SPD65,

My name is Jane and I am the Matron for the Acute Medical Unit.

Firstly I would like to echo Laura's comments and offer my sincere condolences for your loss. I would also like to thank you for taking the time to post your comments on the Care Opinion website in what must be a very distressing and upsetting time for you.

My team on AMU are determined to continue to make every effort to ensure patients and their families receive the best care they can during these difficult times and I am very pleased that we managed to do this for you and your mother in law and that she was able to die in a respectful and dignified manner.

I will be delighted to personally feedback to both Emma and Jenny your comments as well as to the rest of the team.

Thank you once again.

Kind Regards

Jane
