"Phenomenal "

About: Conquest Hospital

.y daughter was admitted as an emergency due to undiagnosed diabetes. She wasn't too far from a diabetic coma. As you would expect the staff treated my daughter, but they were phenomenal, from the staff who seen her in A&E to the ward staff. My daughter was in the high dependency unit in the ward, she was being checked every 30mins to every hour for 36 hours straight. While doing this they managed to reassure both of us, showed endless patience and care, ( they even phoned up on their days off to find out how she was doing) and encouraged her to keep fighting when she wanted to give up.

When she was at her sickest they managed to make her smile.

A massive thank you to everybody in A&E and on Kipling ward especially, including the domestic staff (who were also great with her) . They are special people who feel its 'just their job'. Not in my book, absolute Angels. Above and beyond!!

Hello Patricia,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us such wonderful comments about the recent care and treatment provided to your daughter at Conquest Hospital; we very much appreciate it and hope your daughter is making a steady and comfortable recovery, with any referrals required for future treatment or support she needs for the management of her diabetes being in hand.

The Trust is very proud of the high standards of care it provides to patients, which has recently been reaffirmed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) who awarded us a rating of “Outstanding” for care and “Outstanding” for effectiveness of services; this could not be more relevant than it is now in the current climate as we work tirelessly to manage the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. We are therefore delighted to read your daughter had a very positive experience of care in the Emergency Department and on Kipling Ward, where her care even included contact from staff when not on duty and from our loyal and often unrecognised domestic staff. It is also assuring to read that you and your daughter were reassured by the actions and interventions of staff; no doubt a huge source of comfort, particularly in those first 36 hours of care.

We will ensure your generous words of praise are shared with staff in the Emergency Department and on Kipling Ward, and the manager for our domestic staffing as they will want to read how much you and your daughter appreciated the care and support provided. We also wish your daughter, you and all of your family good health and well-being in these difficult times.
