It was a fantastic service for when our young adult had first come out as a substance abuser.   We felt we had somewhere to explain what was happening, what the options were for recovery what our role was and just general support for us as parents  It was invaluable and to know it's there if we go through a relapse we can't handle is amazing.   We also found the support group with other parents/carers really helpful too and didn't feel quite so alone, floundering or not able to talk about it!  

It's an amazing service.  

I would say the only thing that would have helped us even more would have been an opportunity for counselling with our young person, to be able to talk, share feelings and thoughts, plans and ways through, through a situation where the conversation was supported and guided to develop a way of talking as a family.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience and provide us with feedback on our family service. It is encouraging to hear how useful you found our service when your young person started using. It is really positive that you have build up resilience and coping strategies to be able to manage your situation now and in the future.

I hear your feedback about the family counselling however family therapy is highly specialised intervention for which we are not commissioned to provide currently.

I am so pleased to hear that you found the family peer support group useful, it can be really useful to realise you are not alone or the only family impacted by substance use, it really does cross all culural boundaries.

Keep accessing the support you need and again thanks for your feedback. Can I take this opportunity to wish you and your family all the very best.
