About: Castlemaine Care Home

My Mum has been living at Castlemaine for around 18 months now and her physical health has improved hugely since then. I am writing this shortly after the covid-19 outbreak happened and I’m so impressed with how the manager and staff have dealt with such a difficult situation. They closed to visitors before lockdown to ensure the health and well-being of their residents was maintained, but have emailed relatives on a weekly basis with an update of their loved ones. As I was unable to visit on Mother’s Day due to the virus, I emailed a picture with a Happy Mother’s Day message and the manager ensured it was given to my Mum. It is these extra touches that make the home so special. My Mum vacated the home for a short period as she required hospital treatment and the hospital ward was particularly difficult to contact, but during this time, the manager kept me up to date on Mums progress as again due to covid-19 the hospital are discouraging visitors. I have visited on special occasions personal to Mum, and on organised events, both announced and unannounced and have always been impressed. Having worked in a similar role myself for several years, I am fully aware of the day to day challenges the staff face, let alone how difficult things must be for them currently. I am so pleased my Mum is where she is, and that she has such a good rapport with the staff, and I feel it’s very important to pass information like this on as I’m hoping it will help other people to choose the right home for their loved ones. I pass all my thanks on to the staff for the fantastic care they provide for my Mum and the other residents.
