About: Ashefields Residential Care Home

This home is a modern facility in a rural area. My mother has been living here for about ten months. The home is clean and well maintained. In normal times, there would be activities (singing, arts and crafts etc) every day and residents are encouraged to join in. Equally, residents can spend time on their own and enjoy time in their own rooms or in the conservatory.

The bedrooms are quite spacious and again, very clean. There are no ensuite facilities. Mum's room is cheerfully decorated and we have been able to bring in some of her own items. Staff are respectful of privacy and always knock on the door before entering.

My mother is treated with dignity at all times and her individual needs are always taken into account. The staff understand my mum likes to get up later and she has breakfast later than other residents. They also understand that she like to spend time on her own, but will encourage her to join in with dancing and singing etc. when appropriate.

Last year was a difficult year for the family but since coming to live at Ashefields, mum has gained weight and has settled in well. It is also a relief to know that her medication is being correctly given each day. I am able to speak to mum whenever I want to on the telephone and, until the recent situation, there was no restriction visiting was always open.

The manager and staff worked hard to help mum settle in and we can only praise their care and dedication in these difficult times.
