"My dad's excellent care"

(as a relative),

My dad was admitted as an emergency to ward 57  WGH via the SAU. The SAU had just moved that day due to Covid and staff were still getting used to their new area. Despite this every member of staff was welcoming, reassuring and informative.

In ward 57, although not able to go in and see my dad, staff again were fantastic, informative and made every effort to provide information. My dad wants to express his thanks to every nurse, domestic, CSW, Porter and doctor who cared for him.

These are challenging times for health staff and everyone who cared for my dad rose to and exceeded the challenge. He also said the food was great!

Dear Diard78,

Thank you for taking time to share your experiences of ward 57 and SAU. As you say we are in the process of moving wards and departments around in response to COVID 19. Staff are having to get to used to new ways of working.

We always welcome feedback but it even more appreciated at this difficult time. We understand being a patient in hospital at any time can be frightening and worrying for families, and we recognise that not being able to visit at the this time adds to the stress. We are in the process of introducing "virtual visiting" to all wards using iPads and tablets which will allow patients and families to remain connected.

Once again thank you for your kind words about all staff at the Western General Hospital, and we wish your dad well for his recovery, stay safe
