I had a telephone appointment on the advice of my orthopaedic consultant who had recommended lidocaine patches for manage the significant pain as a result of a shoulder fracture I had sustained as a possible alternative to the tramadol and morphine I was taking.
The doctor who called me made unprofessional disparaging comments about the medical advice given to me by my consultant, I was subsequently contacted by the practice pharmacist and another GP at the practice who directly contradicted the medical advice the first GP gave me.
Furthermore the doctor had a completely dismissive attitude to the pain I was experiencing and violated the cardinal rule of pain management which is "pain is what the patient says it is", the doctor then boasted about their pain tolerance and how they only needed paracetamol after a serious injury, this was highly unprofessional, shocking conduct.
I left the consult with no constructive advice and had to seek medical attention at the local hospital. I will be making a formal complaint, never have I seen such poor practice!
"Bad medical advice, unprofessional conduct, awful…"
