"Moving on from opiates"

About: CGL Nottinghamshire

(as a service user),

I am 50 years old. I av been using and abusing substances since my late teens, opiates being the one constant in my life. For the last 10 years I av been on a subutex script. A year ago i had no idea how id come off the script and leave illicit drugs behind. My recovery worker Fiona encouraged me to do 6 week  confidence and self esteem course which i than did for the next 6 months. Within 5 months i had with the support of Fiona got my first ever respectable job has service user rep at CGL Mansfield notts. I did not think id be able to stick the job never mind like it. A year later i am happy to say this has been the best experience of my life and am confident that within months i will be script and drug free. I dont know about anybody else's experience in recovery with CGL but mine has been a long but fingers crossed successful. I believe the progress I have made as been a collaborative effort and this is the perfect place for me to give thanks to among others CGL. I leave this here as message of hope that its never to late to turn ure life around.

NEVER GIVE UP
