My elderly aunt attended Forth Valley Royal hospital via A&E this week, she was very poorly and required admission to ICU. This was a really difficult time for us as a family due to COVID-19 restrictions for visitors.
The communication from A&E consultant Laura was fantastic, she was compassionate, empathetic and professional, ensuring I understood update she had given. She asked about my aunt and listened to my response. She made me feel confident that my aunt was in good hands. I am grateful for the time she gave me and the care she gave to my aunt.
My aunt was transferred to ICU for palliative care. I can not fault the care she received during her short stay on the unit, the staff made a really difficult time much less stressful than it might have been, in particular Dr Chris and Staff Nurses Sharon and Gabby. Communication was excellent. My aunt was treated with respect and dignity, and the kindness and empathy shown towards my mum and myself was very much appreciated. We trusted my aunt was getting the very best of care. Despite a traumatic weekend prior to admission our experiences in this last admission brought us much comfort at a difficult time.
