"The only down side to the ward"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I have had a few admissions recently on ward 210 and I feel most of the staff are lovely and take excellent care of you while unwell.

There’s one particular staff member I would like you to be aware of. I find them very rude and they show little to no respect for me as a patient. On several occasions they have just walked in the room without knocking and have walked in on me while getting dressed. On one occasion I was in the toilet loosing a lot of blood and they just walked into my room, opened the bathroom door and asked me what I would like for my breakfast the next again day, without apologising and say they would return back, they stood outside the door while I was dealing with blood loss to see what I wanted.

They never offered to change bed sheets I waited 4 hours one shift for this staff member to change my blood soaked sheets and I ended up asking someone else to do it for me.

This is the only down side to ward 210. I appreciate all my on going care

Dear Susannah2020

Thank you for taking time to feedback on your experience in ward 210.

I am sorry that you are unhappy with one particular member of staff who you thought was rude and disrespectful.

I will ask the Senior Charge Nurse for the ward to remind all staff to knock before entering single rooms and toilet areas as I do understand that it is important for patients to have privacy. I will also aske her to remind staff to change blood soaked sheets as quickly as possible.

I appreciate that you are happy with other aspects of your care and will share your comments with the Senior Charge Nurse to share with the ward staff.

I hope you are recovering and coping with being at home at this difficult time.

Regards

Frances
