About: East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust

I had reason to deal with A&E and AMU when my father was admitted on 30th March. During his 3 day stay on this ward I kept in touch by phone for regular updates. I have to say that every time I rang the phone was answered promptly and in a friendly, professional way by every member of staff. Although they were obviously very busy and particularly in the current situation I was never made to feel that it was too much trouble. The doctor was very helpful, advising me about dads treatment and condition.

Dear Mrs Houlton,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review of the kindness provided to you when you were communicating with staff about the well-being of your father last week; we really appreciate it. We very much hope your father’s health has improved, and that he may be back home now in his own surroundings which often helps patients to recover more quickly.

The Trust is very proud of the high standards of care it provides to patients, which has recently been reaffirmed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) who have awarded us a rating of “Outstanding” for care and “Outstanding” for effectiveness of services; and even more so in the current climate with the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. However, it is also important that a patients loved ones can make enquiries about treatment and prognosis as it is a worrying time for them too. It is therefore reassuring for us to read that your calls were answered promptly, and handled by staff who wanted to inform and assure you how things were with your father. This kind and caring approach must have been a great source of comfort to you, and for your father to know you were being kept updated.

We will ensure your words of praise are shared with staff as they will want to know how much you appreciated their kindness. We wish you, your father and all of your family good health and well-being; take care and keep safe in these difficult times.
