"Requiring an inhaler during this peak time of the virus"

About: Lower Clapton Group Practice

(as a relative),

Called in to request for an inhaler to help me with my breathing during this corona breakout. I am self isolating away from work also and I work in the nhs also but due to my own health I have to isolate and my breathing is rapidly getting bad. I called the gp practice to request for an inhaler to be told that I will have to wait for 2 days for a prescription. I was not offered a gp to call me to discuss my symptoms or Anything if truth be told. I understand that there is a huge demand for patients needing help but also in order to lower the spread of this virus spreading, the best way to help patients is to hear of their symptoms and then be able to advise them better including sending over a prescription via online to a near chemist so that this could be picked up. I was not calling to be seen as I know I am not able to at present. All I requested was for an inhaler to help with my breathing difficulties I have struggling. Now to wait for 2 days is impossible, suppose I do not make it within two days due to my asthma and my coughing, this feeling already with my chest being so tight is hard enough to deal with much less to bare it more for two days.

I am writing this on my mother's behalf as I am isolating due to my own health. She cannot be out and just needing support whilst at home through this time. Her symptoms could be part of corona we do not know however she is struggling to breathe and needs an inhaler quickly.

So sorry you had difficulty getting your inhaler. We are calling lots of people on a regular basis to arrange urgent inhalers or assessments. Routine prescription requests are processed within 2 days. Sorry if there was some confusion about what your Mum needed. You haven't supplied us with a way to get in touch with your Mum. We have been trying to get in touch with you directly. If this matter is not resolved, your Mum can call us on 02089867111 or send us a message to lower.claptongp@nhs.net with her details and what she needs.
