"Given space to recover"

About: Michael Carlisle Centre / Stanage Ward

(as the patient),

I was sectioned and taken to Michael Carlisle hospital, it is hard to remember the early days as I was very unwell, but I believe I was very disruptive and kept trying to escape. I felt a sense of relief being back on the ward as it was so familiar and felt safe. On the ward you are given space to recover, which is so important. Although I noticed a distinct lack of nursing staff, which hindered my recovery as certain things were unavailable ie. a walk in the grounds, music nights etc. The staff tried their best but shortages really made the nurse managers job difficult. The support and housekeepers are amazing. The food is fab on Stanage.

Dear xxhellbellxx

Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback for your admission on Stanage ward. I am pleased to hear how safe you felt and that you were given the space to recover whilst on Stanage. All the staff will be pleased to hear your positive feedback. You raise a valid point about staffing and we do try to book extra staff when we have shortfalls. As a trust we are working hard to actively recruit to our vacancies to try and allow every person tor receive the care and support needed to help in their recovery.

Many thanks,

Josh
