About: Holme Valley Memorial Hospital / Day surgery

(as the patient),

I attended my local cottage hospital in Holmfirth run by Locals which is part of Huddersfield and Colne Valley Hospitals.

I had been diagnosed with a Tailor's Bunion (look it up ). My treatment involved a delicate and difficult operation on my foot.

From beginning to end, the whole procedure was excellent. The staff sympathic, the advise literature well designed and reassuringly thought out.

The operation was really relaxed with the Consultant explaing what was happening and working with speed and brio, and I was encouraged to call him by his first name, which really broke down any barriers or anxiety I might have had.

The operation has been over for a fortnight now, a great success and me walking in the sun again so soon.

I've been back twice for checkups which were friendly, informative and encouraging.

As I walk in the sun, I'm breathless with admiration for everyone at Home Valley, an amazing example of our brilliant HNS.

ps I'm 78 years old.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this lovely message. I will share it with the team here at Holme Valley Memorial Hospital.

I am so pleased to hear that in just two weeks you are up and about and feeling better. The Day Surgery team are amazing, they listen to what people say and treat every patient with care and compassion.

It's really important for us to receive feedback like this, we learn so much from people letting us know what has gone right. Like calling the consultant by his first name, the literature being easy to follow and the layout of the building.
